Fairport Announces 2016 Community Beacon Recipient

News - Beacon - 2013-05

Fairport is pleased to announce that The First Tee of Cleveland is our 2016 Community Beacon recipient. Desiring to unify our efforts as a firm to provide meaningful support to the Northeast Ohio community, Fairport selects one charitable organization per year that reflects our firm’s values.  We are proud to join our clients and friends who are active supporters of The First Tee of Cleveland as board and advisory members, donors and staff.

The mission of The First Tee of Cleveland is to positively impact the lives of young people from greater Cleveland by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

The First Tee is not just about golf.  What started as a concept to make golf more accessible to young people turned into an opportunity to help participants ages 6-18 develop core values and learn life skills.  The First Tee Life Skills Experience was formulated at the national level with the help of academic, sport psychology, youth development and golf experts to proactively teach core values and life skills as part of basic golf instruction at chapters around the country, like Cleveland.

Fairport will have several opportunities to engage with The First Tee youth participants at the main Washington Park facility throughout the year.  The highlight will be a planned summer program in which The First Tee players teach us lessons on the golf course, while we hold a session for their parents on raising financially responsible kids.  Our collaboration with The First Tee will also include involvement in the Patty Wood Girls Leadership Academy, their annual golf benefit and annual Thanksgiving breakfast.

“Fairport has defined the true meaning of a philanthropic partner,” says The First Tee of Cleveland Executive Director, Patricia LoPresti. “The impact will be sustainable and their ‘all in’ engagement sets the PAR for what it means to be a true community partner.  The First Tee of Cleveland is grateful to the entire Fairport team; the vision they bring, the support they give and the resources they share to help our kids succeed as our next great citizens.”

We look forward to sharing our experiences with you throughout this year and raising awareness for this remarkable activity-based youth character development program in our community.
