Thomas H. Roulston, II
April 6, 1933 – October 7, 2015
We remember and honor one of the firm’s founders, Thomas H. Roulston, II. He died peacefully earlier this month, with his wife of 61 years, Lois Mueller Roulston, by his side.
Tom founded Fairport’s predecessor firm, Roulston & Company, in 1963 at the age of 30. His contributions to local companies, civic organizations and the regional economy are well-recognized through numerous awards and a key to the City. His legacy lives on through the successes of the countless men and women he mentored.
His daughter and Fairport Managing Partner, Heather Ettinger, reflects on his unmatched work ethic and desire to be a constant learner, “He taught us that we need to share with each other not only our accomplishments, but also our mistakes in order to get better.” This sentiment is captured so beautifully, in Tom’s words, in a video produced in 2011 for a Fairport anniversary celebration:
“I hope that the firm always will remember that they don’t know everything (chuckle) and if they are going to do a good job for their clients they’ve got to keep searching for better information, keep searching for what is happening out there. Because it’s all those things that add up to making good investment decisions.”
We pay tribute to Tom and take his advice to heart by striving to create opportunities for diverse talent, making wise decisions and delivering an outstanding client experience. Tom’s life inspires us to live every day with enthusiasm, honor and deep loyalty for the ones we love.
Rest in peace THR.
